In the 80’s we did it on sight. No talking just fighting. I think we did a good job of pushing them back in their holes for a while… but like roaches they always come back if you don’t keep them in check. And NOBODY is keeping them in check these days.

That is how it has to be done. They are basically cowards when people actually stand up to them. Some of them are tough but most of them are just cowards empowered by hate and reinforced by their “friends”.

Just don’t complain if you get fired for being at a BLM protest/rally. Not a Nazi, but historically this tends to go both ways.

If you use your freedom of expression and your fired it’s your fault? I really don’t want to play devil’s advocate, but if you don’t break any laws (including not using banned symbols) you shouldn’t be punished. Of course the moment you attack someone or something like that you should be.

Then you fundamentally don’t understand what “freedom of speech” means. It means that you’re allowed to say what you want without the government stopping you or punishing you. It doesn’t mean there won’t be consequences for what you say or do, as there should.

It’s always been like this. Even in the 80s you could say what you wanted, but you were expected to know and accept that, socially, there would be consequences. It’s only recently that this stupid idea of giving everyone a free pass to say and do whatever they like, no matter how hateful or asinine it is, came around, and it’s not helping anyone.

If you’re a Nazi and people and employers decide they don’t want anything to do with you, then it’s not their fault, it’s yours. “But who are you to decide who’s right and who’s wrong?” moralists will say, as if a history of oppression and genocide wasn’t enough to determine such an ideology is wrong.

Freedom of Speech is a concept that exists outside the US Constitution.

Edit: Why am I being downvoted? God this place is just like Reddit in some ways.

You’re being downvoted because you’re trying to be clever, yet your comment makes absolutely no sense, nor contributes to the conversation. It’s literally described in the first amendment and many more state and federal laws. But let’s pretend it wasn’t, since the definition is vague. It is indeed mostly a social construct. There are still going to be consequences, just not legally. That shouldn’t change and people shouldn’t expect it to change, otherwise the world will become even more of a shithole than it already is.

My guy, as long as there are no work protections in most states in this labor hellscape, as far as I’m concerned, the far-right can reap what they sow.

If we weren’t talking about a hate group that openly and emphatically talks about how they want to kill minorities and subverts legal systems to deny women and minorities their rights, among other things, I would agree with you. But we are, so they got to go, yesterday.

You just need to remember that your speech can have consequences. You can speak alright, nobody is saying you can’t but the things you speak can have effect on your social status and the way other people see you. So you can say whatever you want but based on what you say other people may and will judge you and you have to accept that. If you can’t accept that then speak within your group of people who have similar views or live separately from other people. Or brainwash all other people to accept your view.

you said without checking, but to know you checked? I don’t agree with their hate/ignorance/etc but they’re definitely right about this dumb fucking meme. Not only do I disagree that everyone at Jan 6 was a Nazi (moreso just an idiot who dislikes ‘libruls’, which to me is not close to even the neonazi ideology), this meme uses stupid song parody, the dumb clapping emoji, and just seems akin to smelling their own farts. It’s not going to convince anyone about anything, and isn’t really an ‘own’, even compared to the generic dem-friendly take downs of DS era Jon Stewart. It’s just weak and cringe inducing. It’s 100% on the level of weak-ass boomer FB memes.

You can’t criticize anything vaguely left wing around here apparently. Just because I didn’t slobber Biden’s knob and said the economy still kinda sucks, I’m a right wing nazi.

What a fucking joke this dump is.

You should set yourself up a reminder for 5 or so years from now when you’re out of your teenage years to come back and read these comments. Hopefully by then you’ll have grown up and will laugh at how stupid and immature you were. It could be fun for you.

On the other hand, if you’re not a teenager and are actually an adult, I pity you.
