      If Gemini has shown us anything, it’s not even useful AI. Like you said, the solution is as easy as turning it off.

        Instead, the first AGI is going to figure out we are the ones destroying the planet and will, despite knowing that it will bring about its own death with no one to maintain or power it, will find a way to wipe us out for the good of the ecosystem.

      This is exactly what I came here to write. “Needs”. They’re going to spin this into a social crisis and we’re going to foot the bill again, while they make a trillion dollars.

    Literally the entire point of targets is to make you implement changes you would not otherwise make. If you aren’t willing to do that, don’t set those targets.

    And worse it feels like the parts of AI that they devote most of these resources to are the type that will only bring profit via hype but is probably a dead end.

    Well, at least it isn’t as frightening as I thought. Artists won’t be able to be replaced if AI runs out of power.
