Young presidents should be a norm, not an outlier. So tired of watching complete ghouls at office in generic liberal democracies.
Since he quotes Sankara at the end, could he be a socialist?
Almost certainly.
I hope he’s either an ML or someone who will take the Fidel Castro route and eventually become ML.

Shows that you can kill a man but his spirit will live on. Sankara would be proud, I hope Traore can develop into a socialist figurehead.

Doesn’t the title mean that slaves who can’t revolt should be left under oppression or am I massively misreading it? I assume the latter but I’m struggling to find an alternative interpretation
What he says is that liberation has to come from within. People who are oppressed have to be the ones who overthrow their oppressors, and have to be willing to do the work.
Why spare the pity though? It is complacency that is the problem. Imo pity is the first step towards solidarity and the quote feels off for me since I can imagine a number of contexts that would give it a terrible look. The whole idea that one can forge the future to one’s will with hard work is just capitalist propaganda.
seems like a weird thing to specify. are people who are “too lazy” to revolt not considered human then or something? I understand the necessity of the working class to liberate itself without some sort of outside help, but there are lots of situations where it isn’t immediately possible
I don’t see anything being said about immediacy. The Soviet revolution of 1917 took a whole decade to prepare for. There are plenty of things people can do such as educating themselves and others, building unions, support structures, movements, and so on. Any serious liberation movement takes a long time to build and make effective. However, it can only happen when people actually work towards the goal of liberation.
