41·7 days ago- Prediction market is a tool to predict a future more accurately than asking people what will happen[1][2]
- You can’t cash out on manifold.markets so I would not mark it as gambling unlike polymarket. It works like premium in-game currency

2·12 days agoIf has more than 4 cores then yes.
Then you would need to state your question deferentially. Something like “What were your weird bonding moments with your parents?”

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•I want to attend therapy for the first time! What are some things I should know before signing up?
10·29 days agoDo you start to see results right away, or are things slow at first?
It’s slow. Super slow. I have questioned the efficacy multiple times, but still after months of hard work on my part there was some progress. It was hard to see but there was some progress.
What’s it like? Is it warm and fuzzy, or cold and analytical?
It’s not warm. It’s not fuzzy. It’s not cold, and it’s not analytical.
There will be a lot of empathy, and just like medicine, that has a bitter taste, there will be pain, but it will be good for you. Best description I could provide is a scenerio where you need to perform a surgery on yourself but the best surgeons of the world have come up with a procedure to save you but they are on the phone. You can’t put yourself under anesthesia, but you have time to learn how to be a surgeon by practising on yourself.

Linux@lemmy.ml•What are some of your most useful or favorite terminal commands?
4·29 days agopkilljournalctl -bnvtoptailare great but I like:LANGUAGE=en_GB LC_ALL=en_GB.UTF-8 LANG=en_GB.UTF-8 <your GUI program>to run a GUI program in English for more universal compatibility for helping newbies and creating/reading non-terminal based documentation
There is one unreleased exploit (As far as I am aware) that one could wait for the release in some undetermined amount of time.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How do I explain my reluctance to use generative AI in good faith?
9·2 months ago“There are emerging studies about AI induced psychosis[1], and there is a possibility to go psychotic even if one doesn’t have pre-conditions to become one. I would like to be cautious with the danger, like with cigaretes or Thalidomide. You never know how it might be dangerous.”

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•People who listen to music regularly, how sad would you be if you were permanently deprived of the ability to listen to any music ever again for the rest of your life?
5·2 months agoI will grieve for a bit, and I will adapt. Humans can get used to anything.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How can you protect yourself from an abusive and violent sibling when you are financially dependent on your enabling parents?
12·2 months agoI have been in similar situation but without the chronic illness. What has worked for me:
- Maximise time outside. Try group activities, where people can take care of you if something happens, and give your a rides to and from meeting spot. Check if library or other institution has some sort of help program.
- Get money. Find a job you can do. Any job wil do.
- Move out asap.
The first step to heal is to not be in danger.
I hope for your success. I have walked through hell, and somehow I survived. All this effort was worth it.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•The year is 2026, you find out 90% of the fediverse are acually bots, but you have severe social anxiety. Do you continue using the fediverse regardless, or try going outside?
6·2 months agoYou find out […] you have sever social anxiety.
I go outside to become better regardless of fediverse.
Break the system so hard that you need to reinstall the system.
Blender is cool but without a lot of guidance it is impossible to use. Blockbench is easier, and they could figure out how to put their creation inside Minecraft.
Pivot animator but it would need to run under wine/proton
Make a song, I would look into bosca ceoil blue and audacity.
Make a short movie

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Is anyone just like... very terrified of losing your memories?
3·3 months agoHaving this “backstory” (for lack of a better term), is what drives me forward, without those memories, like if I get a concussion and forgot everything, I wouldn’t really be… well… “me” anymore
Emotional memories is how we develop a sense of self. So if you are really attached to who you are then it will be terryfing to loose who you are.
But we can do really wacky stuff with our memories. We can delude ourselfs into makeing new false memories or misremembering them.
Also you constantly get new memories and change who you are, so you aren’t the same person as you were years ago.
I have grown up without that sense of self and I had to sculpt one from the ground up. So I am not really terrified of loosing the sens of self as I can make one once again. It will be different but it will still be ME.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Sony WF-C510 connected on Linux, but never recognized as a headset
3·3 months agoI had Sony CH-WH710n and no major problems.
Try to pair the headphones via
bluetoothctland see if there are any errors in the logs.Do you dual boot windows? In my case it couldn’t pair to both at the same time without extracting the keys.
I would try to see if windows pairs up with the headphones, after all other troubleshooting steps are exhausted.
