Saw this for the first time a few months ago at a movie night I do with friends every so often. It was a fun watch! I’d recommend to music lovers and people who appreciate angsty coming-of-age stories.
Ran out of lime juice, so I’ve been making some poor man’s margs with mango tequila, triple sec, and pineapple/coconut seltzer water. I have no idea what you’d even call this drink, but it hits the spot.
To each their own, of course, if you prefer not to use the features. But it’s not actually simulating any gameplay, it’s just interpolating new frame data from already-rendered frames. The actual game logic isn’t being simulated or affected at all. You can think of it as just smoothing out the end result, which has already been computed by the game engine.
That being said, I’m not sure how it would impact a game that has incorrectly tied its game logic directly to the framerate. My guess is the interpolation step still happens after all that occurs, which means it would still not affect actual gameplay, but someone who knows more can correct me if I’m wrong.
Yeah, I definitely agree with the sentiment. I try to evangelize the fact that Gen AI !== AI because AI as a whole has a ton of amazing benefits at low cost. And it’s way more prevalent than people realize. But I don’t disagree that Gen AI has been appropriated for some of the dumbest shit ever that costs an arm and a leg to create. A* is a good example of what I was referring to in my original comment. Simple, effective, useful. That being said, I’m sure even Gen AI could have some worthwhile benefits if used in better ways, but it sure does seem like we can’t have many nice things as of late (2024) 🙃
I’ve closed and reopened a handful of times since then haha
And then reopen lemmy 30s later!
First person on my dad’s side of the family to get a master’s degree. I loved school, but I’m also very happy to be done with it haha.
Edit: maybe the first to get a bachelor’s as well, but I’m not 100% sure about that. In any case, I’m proud to have gone through all that. Learned a lot.
Uhhh, AI has been around for DECADES. You are likely conflating AI as a whole with “generative AI” which has been experiencing a boom the last 5+ years. Some examples of AI include pathfinding (think of your GPS telling you how to get somewhere), chess engines (also a form of pathfinding, incidentally), and NPCs in video games making decisions based on a set of rules and states.
Hell yeah
I’m calling the police (unless you share with me too).
Well, of course. You’re Gary.
Hell yeah
Good to hear! I just started playing yesterday!
Ha, what a great acronym! I will say, for anyone in this thread who does photography and is considering making the switch, I can’t recommend it enough. I upgraded from a DSLR to mirrorless early this year (Nikon D750 -> Nikon Zf), and it’s been a game-changer for me.
Specifically, I know the EVF is a point of contention for some. Many people prefer optical because you can get a clear view of the scene as you would see it with your eyes. However, I really prefer the “what you see is what you get” approach of EVFs. Being able to visualize the exposure and DOF in real-time has been super beneficial, in my experience.
As far as I can tell, this is not true. It seems they are supporting and producing existing models, but there aren’t any new models being made. All the big names have shifted their focus to mirrorless for new production.
White noise is critical and underrated.
