  • Are you the one then who gatekeeps who is allowed to be a gatekeeper, and whether something is acceptable? An example: I really like the aesthetic of upside-down 5 pointed stars. Is there some sort of meaning and history behind them? Don’t know. Am I allowed to like them? Or should I feel shame for not looking up the symbolism in everything that I like? Do I really need to educate myself on the occult in order to like something that might hold meaning to someone else?

Purity tests for fandoms are gross. No one, save for those who take these things way too seriously, cares about how hardcore you are.

    Great unpopular opinion!

  • Let’s remember the polling data.

Another question asked in the aChord poll was to what extent respondents agreed with the statement that “there are no innocent people in Gaza.” Sixty-four percent agreed with it to a large extent (describing their agreement as between 4 and 6 on a scale in which 1 is total disagreement and 6 is complete agreement). Among supporters of the governing coalition, 87 percent agreed with the statement to a large extent. Among supporters of Avigdor Lieberman’s Yisrael Beiteinu party and other right-wing voters who don’t support the coalition, 73 percent largely agreed. Among voters for centrist parties, the comparable figure was 67 percent, while among left-wing voters, 30 percent largely agreed. Among Arab Israeli respondents, 92 percent disagreed (meaning that they ranked their agreement as between 1 and 3).

If there are no innocents in Gaza, then why would the average Israeli even feel shame for what the IOF does? It’s all a part of the genocide. It will not end voluntarily. It seems that there must be force involved to stop it.

Learning in my 20’s of what Israel, the righteous land that we praised in song during Seders, had done in the past, is part of what turned me away.

Never Again is an absolute. There can be no genocide allowed, regardless of who the people are.

“Children in solitary confinement” should be a sentence that no one has ever uttered. Well, according to a significant number of Israeli’s, that kid was going to become a terrorist, so they should nip it in the bud.

  • He’d be a hero to his stupid base when he had to have the courage it would take to renege on the pledge, blaming it on a conspiracy against him.

This is because his supporters are amongst the dumbest, most gullible and hateful people in the nation.

They’d much rather watch a video of a doofus asking him questions that had been provided by Trump himself. They don’t have any interest in hearing anything others have to say, just their god man.

One would think it would get boring hearing the same, obviously fictitious, dribble from the same angry man all the time. But again, his supporters are idiots, and it’s an exercise in futility trying to understand them.

  • I agree with you that there needs to be a robust system in place to provide resources and other support for women that feel like surrogacy is one of their only ways to make money. However, the legislation in Italy is targeting LGBTQ families specifically. Right wing/fascist ideology the world over is experiencing a renaissance in support of legislating LGBTQ folk back into the shadows. It’s working, btw.

In Italy, it is already illegal for same-sex couples to adopt. Now they are trying to make surrogacy punishable by jail time, no matter where an Italian citizen goes to do it. Should the government be allowed to tell you that you cannot have a family? If I proposed a law that would effectively outlaw your ability to have a family, would you support that? Is this new law really just to protect women?
