I use both and much prefer Mastodon. As others have said, it’s more mature and the apps (of which there are many) are more polished. Bluesky is a bit glitchy and less feature rich. In fact, you still can’t mute phrases on Bluesky, which is a deal breaker for me.

Mastodon is harder to find people due to the federated nature, although some mobile apps such as Megalodon on Android and Ice Cubes on iOS do pull follower and following lists from remote instances which makes it easier to find people.

Bluesky is more like old Twitter, and many people who I’ve followed for years are on there. Trying to out quip each other. Mastodon is more friendly and I’ve found lots of interesting people to follow.

I’m a LibreTube person myself, but only because I can’t figure out how to access a YT channel’s playlists in NewPipe. A couple of my subscriptions have unlisted videos that are in playlists (for example MLIG live streams). LibreTube isn’t perfect though. I cannot fully disable the “Home” page.

Unfortunately I played it on console… Either Switch or Xbox, but I see it’s on sale on Steam at the moment, so maybe I’ll give it a go on PC and can always fall back on some mods if need be. Thanks.

I’m getting a bit older and have mild arthritis and being forced to play games “as developers intended” really grinds my gears. I’m stuck someway through Hollow Knight and doubt I’ll ever go back to it. Some of us are already playing things on hard mode!

I need to try this again. I really wanted to get into it but I bounced off it after about 8-10 hours. I seem to remember feeling it was a bit grindy and dragged in places. I played on PS4 then PS5 and don’t recall tweaking the assist mode. Will need to look at that again. I’m getting a bit long in the tooth and have mild arthritis so don’t have the dexterity I used to have in my 20s - assist modes are great for this. I wish more developers would include them rather than insisting on one level of difficulty. Some of us already have an in-built hard mode!

I felt the same a year or two ago an have used DuckDuckGo almost exclusively since. I believe DDG is a private frontend for Bing, but I may be wrong.

I’m also not OP but I have one of these. Also using GarlicOS. Took a bit of tweaking the get things set up, but loving it. I’d definitely recommend, but you may need to fiddle to get it working exactly right. Struggles with some PS1 titles, but otherwise excellent.

I was thinking about buying Alan Wake recently too. Loved it on the 360 when it originally came out. Properly hooked me in. Time for a replay. Excellent.

I’m not using Jerboa at the moment, it’s a bit wonky for me. So, I’m switching between a few apps: Thunder, Liftoff and Connect. Some seem to be better than others in terms of presenting a summary.

However, I don’t have a solution! I appreciate your work and I also appreciate your conundrum. If there was some way to intelligently filter news stories. I’m not sure how. Perhaps a script that does a google search on a headline to see if it has been picked up by multiple sites and only then post it? Or if there as way for you to review posts before they are posted. I don’t know much about the inner workings of Lemmy. Can you make it so all posts from the bot(s) needs to be moderated, and you can review and say, “yes or no”? So that you can act like a filter to choose the most interesting ones that may lend themselves to debate.

Yeah, that’s my biggest issue too. With so many of the posts seemingly being automated posts from news sites or the Sony site, it ends up being little more than an RSS feed with links, and no real comments or community. I’d favor curated links only, rather than a large number of links with no discussion. Also, I find that this community and one other (one of the technology ones) floods my stream so much that I may have to unsubscribe. That’s not just the issue of the community, but also the way that Lemmy sorts “Hot” posts. I’m told there are changes to the algorithm in 0.18.0+, which would be nice, because I’m not sure I’d consider a post with no comments to be hot.

Finally, and personally, I never click on links without some sort of summary or description in the post. A title and a link is a big turn off for me. I use mobile almost exclusively, and the switch to a browser (in app or external) results in just too much effort to get back to my Lemmy subscriptions.

These people have a very different concept of the word “legitimate” than I do.

I use a Gaggia New Baby espresso machine that I bought for £60 here in the UK of Facebook marketplace. A £100 manual handgrinder (Kingrinder K4) and speciality beans from a local roastery. The espresso I can make at home tastes better than all but the best speciality shops where I live. Honestly, it’s sort of spoiled me now, and it’s rather disappointing when I go somehow I don’t know and end up with a mediocre coffee!
