  • October 31, 2024 - Halloween Shave

    • Brush: Yaqi - Sagrada Familia 24mm synthetic
    • Razor: Gilette - Super Speed Black Tip
    • Blade: Gilette - 7 O’clock SharpEdge (4)
    • Lather: Southern Witchcrafts - Boonana
    • Post: Chiseled Face - Ghost Town Barber AS splash
    • Post: Ginger’s Garden - Unscented Aftershave Balm (+menthol)
    • Frag: Chiseled Face - Ghost Town Barber EdP

Really excellent results with the Super Speed today. I also very much enjoy the scent of Boonana, but it seems this is another soap that gives me a bit of frag burn. I think there must be a bit of cinnamon oil in there.

I was considering the trifecta before today’s shave. Now back to the drawing board for a properly spooky set.

    Have a good one! ✌️

    • Frag: Barrister and Mann - Roam Two EdT

Back to the grind. I have like 3k lines of intern code to review this morning. 🥲

Roam Two definitely helps though. I find it to be such a comforting scent.

    Good luck this week y’all.

    • Lather: Stirling - Autumn Glory

Learning how to use this Super Speed has been an interesting experience. I often find myself thinking that it’s too light, but if I can match it with a very light touch I get great results.

I stand by my opinion that Stirling soaps were made for boar brushes. The lather this morning was incredible.

    Have a great Sunday y’all. ✌️

  • In my opinion if you use a properly hydrated lather, it shouldn’t prevent you from seeing what’s going on.

I’d focus on getting as much water as possible into your lather. Then use as mild of a DE razor as you own.

I’ve personally never had trouble using a DE “down there.” I typically use a Merkur 34C for this and have had great results.

Granted, I don’t have lady bits down there so I can’t speak to those specific difficulties. I have to assume though that you’d get good results with a properly hydrated lather, a mild razor, and a good deal of care.
