Furiosa is 5 years too late. People who cared about her, stopped caring about the character years ago. They give us enough of her backstory in Fury Road. For viewers to know her history. If they stop to connect the dots. So making this movie pointless. Furiosa failed itself.
I agree they do give enough of her story in Fury Road but for this movie I wanted even more of her story and in my opinion it chose the wrong portions of her back story to focus on and basically made it a worse version of fury road.
Ha, no.
Loved the movie, but they should’ve stuck with the yellow color grady they initially went for
It’s a fun movie. Sure it may be a downgrade to fury road but that doesnt mean it’s not great. It’s a must watch 2024 movie in my opinion.
TLDR “I liked this movie and everyone else are stupid dum dums for not falling over themselves about it.”
The article continually acknowledges and then hand waves away the critiques of Furiosa.
When people enjoy something I much prefer when they just stick to talking about the things they enjoyed about it, and have the confidence to allow readers to be won over. It is exhausting when someone is making an appeal that has the texture of a condemnation for not already agreeing.

Truly. I could physically feel my eyes rolling in their sockets when I read:
Furiosa, it must be confessed, does not reach the same heights of jaw-dropping splendor. Truly, the worst that can be said of it is that it’s not Fury Road. But isn’t that also what’s special about the film? It’s not trying to be a movie you’ve seen already. Miller, who’s never really repeated himself with this series (every Mad Max is kind of its own eccentric thing), draws a direct line of continuity to Fury Road without mimicking its tight time frame and daisy-chained set piece structure. Having already perfected that form, what would be the point of recycling it?
As if 1) Fury Road was actually a perfect movie and 2) that’s at all relevant for the article’s argument that “this movie should’ve done better!!”
Thanks for the comment, saved me some time.
Wtf do you mean we failed furiosa? I don’t have time to see every fucking movie I wanna see. Do these people think everyone else doesn’t have jobs?
Furiosa was fucking terrible lol. The weird and inconsistent CGI, Chris Hemsworth doing whatever kind of character that was, and the atrocious plot. It was bad. All of it.
I think Fury road is the best movie ever. I grapple to understand why Furiosa isnt even half as good, and I blame the villain character. The mix of humor and serious could have worked, for some reason it didnt at all. When we compare, none other previous villain in the serie were even half a clown like this one.
I love Fury Road, it’s possibly my favourite movie of the 2010s and I’ve seen it a dozen times. Truly something special in that film. I skipped Furiosa. Movies are way too damn expensive and it seems like it would be easier to make a list of movies made between 2020-24 that don’t star Anya Taylor-Joy. Throw on the fact that most reviews said it was A) too long and B) no action, no cars, and I figured there wasn’t much reason for me to see it as a Fury Road fan
If you liked Fury Road you might want to reconsider watching Furiosa. While not as good and definitely too long it is still action packed and has some memorable scenes that I actually enjoyed. It’s not a bad movie imho, especially if you don’t expect it to be as great as the previous one.
It’s on my Plex, I’ll probably throw it on some night but yeah, a long, self-conscious sequel to one of the most unrestrained movies from a decade ago doesn’t inspire much enthusiasm for me. Besides that I just really don’t like ATJ
Yeah, you’re not missing anything by skipping Furiosa. The drop in quality is shocking. I say that as a huge Fury Road fan. I’m also a fan of Anya Taylor Joy, Hemsworth, and Tom Burke, who I knew previously and enjoy immensely on his show Strike.
The writing, directing, art direction and visual effects are almost B-movie level quality compared to Fury Road. It’s like those direct to video Disney sequels to their feature hits. I was so so so disappointed. :(
Those reviews were wrong, there is definitely action and cars in the movie including some damn impressive Maxless Madness
I gotta be honest, I didn’t see it until it was out on 4K physical.
It was fine, I remember liking it, but at this point months later, I couldn’t tell you what happened, what it was about, who was in it, or really any memorable scene at all.
Other than “it was fine”, it made no impression at all.
Same. I watched it when it came out on streaming. I liked it, but I can’t really remember it.
I watched it recently and totally forgot the story.
Me too, nothing to impress in the long term memory like Fury Road. This film was a quick cash grab with mOdErN aUdIeNcE in mind.
