Remember folks, use protection no matter your NEMA plug and/or receptacle type! Proper generator/grid interconnect lockouts can avoid backfeeding your current to the grid and hurting line workers during an emergency. Never use spicy hellplug even if it wants you to…

Except the house will have fuses and considering that electricity propagates at almost the speed of light it doesn’t really matter where they are. generators all have breakers now too.

The illustrated problem isn’t the type of plug, it’s the double male “gay” plug, also called “suicide cord”

The difference between a 5 A plug fuse and a 20 A breaker isn’t a lot when this thing is trying to burn your house down

Nobody’s law requires it except the UK. But I’m pretty sure even the Americans have fuses on every outlet in their fusebox, so even a suicide cord like this won’t burn your house down.

It will, however, wreck your generator when the power comes back on. It will also electrocute you if you grab it while plugged in.
