    Any single country cannot speak out against the US without risking huge negative consequences. That’s why the reasonable middle powers of the world should coordinate their responses together. A rebuke by Germany + UK + Canada + Japan + France + Spain + … would weigh a lot more and risk a lot less.

    Better to be selective than outspoken like Spain. While Spain may get free passage by Iran, they may get the bill from the US.

    I am not endorsing this by the way. But I would not want the most powerful country in Europe to antagonize the two superpowers US and China.

          So the more powerful a country is, the less able it is to stand up for itself and do the right thing in the face of opposition? What an odd philosophy.

            Nope, it’s the power difference that matters. You don’t care about a fly, but you care enough about a mouse enough to trap it. A chimpanzee you would be afraid of. Taking the difference between a human and those animals.
