French national infected while sharing flight with a ships passenger 1 2
Dutch flight attendant infected 1
Good thing we learnt from the last major pandemic and now have infrastructure to deal with this
Hahahahahahahahaha just kidding
They let 23 people leave the ship and then said they’d let the rest debark on the canaries…
(Though that was thankfully stopped)This is not looking good.
It has a long incubation period too and one of the infected was a flight attendant, so she probably went on even more flights after. Is the FA confirmed to have hanta?
I guess it’s only a possible virus so far
Will be a huge tell imo. Narrative now is it spreads from close contact. If FA picked it up that blows the theory wide open
There is already that french guy who caught it from a flight apparently
I was being kind of jokey but I am actually pretty terrified. I don’t think I could handle a second COVID with millions dying again
If this were to become a pandemic (which would require the disease to be very infectious, which nerds say it isnt, but then again those nerds do say a lot of stuff) then you still wouldn’t have to worry about it being another COVID. The mortality rate is much higher

On the other hand I don’t think it has the same issues as long-covid soIt’s not COVID. It’s less contagious by far. It requires closer contact for longer and has a shorter infectivity period. The media is just blowing up about it because the media is blowing up about it. We’ve had a billion headlines in a week and there’s like, eight infections total.
It’s like how the media couldn’t shut up about train derailments after Palestine USA, because people clicked more on derailment stories, despite derailments being mostly mundane.

Pretty sure its because they blew up the train more than just derailment.
Though that was thankfully stopped
When did this happen? Last I saw, I think yesterday, this was the plan. Although I don’t have a good source. Was just waiting for it to happen before making a post

At a later news conference, however, Spain’s health minister Monica Garcia Gomez doubled down on the plan, saying the ship would dock in Tenerife, “within three days.”
I guess we will have to see if Spain or local gov has its way in the end
Why are they so desperate to dock it?
I’m still of the completely unprofessional opinion that this isn’t going to become a global pandemic like COVID but I’m just a dude who thinks Nothing Ever Happens and I can admit that we’re in a time of Many Things Happening so…it’s a bit scary but I also think its not going to become a global pandemic
Counterpoint: we live in clown world and it peak comedy would be The Big One ™ comes from a bunch of rich assholes on a cruise and not some poor rural backwater with no infrastructure
I mean it is most likely the correct opinion to have at this point
A flight attendant is like the perfect super spreader. How many flights did they service while infectious? How many airports and hotels did they go through?
I feel like the public understanding of “airborne” is limited… casual info about contagins say stuff like “oh yeah your droplets and feces can infect people, but its actually rare or whatever” but it feels like… airborne viruses are more contagious than what is commonly described. 😷
Turns out there’s just shit everywhere
It has been reported that one passenger, who left the ship early and flew home to Switzerland with his wife, has already tested positive for the virus and is being treated in Zurich.

I thought hantavirus doesn’t spread between infected humans?
Andes strain does apparently
well fuck
Oh lordy, was covid just the warm-up?
Covid was an example of how many people absolutely do not give a shit and will infect as many people as possible if it means they can still goto Applebee’s for chicken wings.
Yeah, I didnt have much faith in westerners before covid but now, absolutely none. People will be spitting in each other mouths. I mean, we got fucking measles again…fuck
COVID could have literally been the warmup for this by damaging the immune systems of most of the population
Given continued human expansion into habitats and our dirty af cafos used for livestock (esp chicken), it was inevitable that COVID was a warmup. Though my money is still on flu not hanta
i have nothing else to add (sorry) besides the fact they’re being let out is unhealthily pissing me off. why the fuck are they being let out? why can’t they just stay on the ship??? and they’re on planes, fucking hell
From what I’ve read it seems like it isn’t quite as contagious and needs extended physical contact as opposed to Covid.
The flight attendant had limited contact with the person showing symptoms and yet.
im pretty spooked y’all
Has she even tested positive? She was slightly sick and that’s why they are treating her rn to even figure out if she has it
Oh yikes
This is the opposite of HANTing (Hav(ing) A Nice Time
