idk what to tell you it feels like a slop day for me
Noooo you can’t just participate in the free market like that!

Lmfao git fukt American island base disguised as a country!
So they made an orange that sells at 3 euros per fruit, essentially targeting rich consumers, and then they expect me to feel sorry that they will now become poor?
They were also very pissed off when China started making Matcha green tea in large volumes and very cheap which had until then been sold very expensively by the Japanese because they managed to market it in the West as a fancy luxury product for bougie types.
The irony of that was that Matcha didn’t even originate in Japan but in China hundreds of years before Japan adopted it. Lol.
The even crazier thing is if you even know a little bit about tea history you would have known that matcha is basically the low quality product made for export because people can’t reserve tea leaves back then. Nobody who have accessed to full tea leaves would want to drink the grounded up mixed powder that’s just the instant coffee version of tea that is matcha (grounded tea) until people got brainwashed into thinking that’s the only type of tea you can have.
It is also good as hell in a way instant coffee is not though
Literally something that grows on this fucking earth let other human beings enjoy it too you daft pricks
What are the odds this ‘stolen’ fruit was just bought somewhere
This may come as a shock to some, but it turns out that oranges did not originate in Japan. I know, who would have thought? Lol. So yes, the Japanese themselves “plagiarized” the fruit from someone else first.
I think that all food should be copyrighted and you should only be able to eat food if you have licensed that food. The license can be revoked any any time and the Food Police have the right to forcibly take the food from your poop if you’ve already eaten it. This truly is Capitalist Efficiency at its finest
funny part about this is that one “stolen” scion successfully grafted can be infinitely reproduced
I say the West can have the right to complain about Chinese IP theft when it pays reparations and compensation to China for stealing China’s silk production methods since the 6th century, stealing Chinese gunpowder since the 12th century, and stealing Chinese block printing technology since the 14th century. Also, Japan can give back Chinese script characters they took from China, then it can have its oranges back.
And that’s just a very small sample of the ideas and technology that Europe and the rest of Asia “stole” from China.
…or we can all agree that IP is bullshit and that all human inventions are the common property of humanity.
When a socialist state avoids any sort of capitalist practice, they are called backwards and repressive.
When a socialist state participates in the global capitalist markets, they are called thieves and disruptive.
The non-falsifiable orthodoxy strikes again.
genuinely why dont companies in japan just their products accessible then… manga artists dont even look our way as foreign fans because many of us have to pirate it. sorry to say it but most countries on the face of the earth are not willing to carry the manga ”My Little Sister is Tight II” at the grocery store. korea makes so many of their products easily available everywhere. nobody is doing Buldak imports on the black market because there is no need for that. i would be happy to buy japanese products if i didnt have to go through some shady websites and pay my left kidney for shipping. and they rub it in our face that they have these products and have the gall to brag about how we dont get their things. are these chinese farmers in question importing these fruits
Ironically this is just the free market in action. Japan did not manage to make this product conveniently available at an affordable price to the markets that demanded it, so Chinese producers stepped in and filled that market demand more efficiently.
Sucks to suck, i guess, maybe next time invest more in mass production for the masses and less in artisanal products for a wealthy few, then you won’t be undercut.
exactly, japan has this weird obsession with not making their products available in every country they can. only the US, maybe some of the first world countries in europe. its obvious that the US has to fund their economy and control how the world views them bc any other country this opposed to everything wouldnt thrive otherwise
Japan was as bad as Germany during the World Anti Fascist War, they invaded all the surrounding countries and killed over 20 million Chinese people before the Chinese successfully fought off the Imperialist Japanese invaders, and now Japan has been doing everything they can to return to those days, purchasing Japanese products support those efforts, a better alternative is to buy Chinese products, as it’d support a growing global revolution.
i would also posit that the obsession also has roots in japanese chauvinism, because of course it does. every debate about piracy of japanese media inevitably degrades into screeds about how piracy damages the sanctity of ~japanese art~, which is almost always an incredible crock of shit. i don’t necessarily say this as a dig at the actual content in question, but when you start acting like yaoi games count as japanese cultural treasures… well, something has gone extremely wrong.
fr, i understand people caring about actual cultural artifacts but yelling over people pirating shit fanservice anime is crazy. interestingly, many japanese words are still in the US and there isnt much demand from japan for the return because theyre low quality and mass produced but like its still part of that history/possibly connected to someone
Manga is actually an apt comparison here since, just like oranges, comic books were imported to Japan and aren’t an indigenous development lmao.
Ukraine flag detected, opinion rejected.
Guess the free market won.
I just saw this on the Piracy subreddit. Some comments there were funny.
Japan is warm enough for oranges? Or are they from the colony of Ryukyu Islands?
Japan has some parts that are pretty warm and others that are more temperate. It’s a long, north-south oriented island after all.
Japan is a low lying country with high humidity and long daylight hours, which makes the nation fairly hospitable for hardy citrus species.
Plus a lot of fruit is grown in greenhouses.
“nice premium fruits you got there capitalist farmer. it would be a shame if…a revolutionary people would share the goods!”
me when people ask me to feel pity for the sorry ip laws being violated
preventing people from agriculture by saying u own something is just peak colonizer behaviour especially when u consider what japan would do to china during famines
genuinely the question the farmer posed is fair and honestly good to ask japanese…. i mean, i’m not surprised if a major portion of them still did desire that the chinese continue starving. they hate to see the PRC winning after japan hobbled itself for USA
I’m gonna change their name to ‘‘Jagpan’’ for all the jagging off they do.Oh no, the bougies are heartbroken that they lost their monopoly!
Hope it happens again. :)
