Geez, you murder a shitload of people to the point even a prominent Nazi said you went too far, use women from occupied countries as sex slaves, conduct unethical experiments on prisoners, then decades later your ruling far-right party and its weirdo cult member politicians deny any of this ever happened…and everyone thinks remilitarizing your country is bad forever? SMH 🙄

personal view: the thing with japan is that after ww2 they got heavily disarmed ,they focused only on defensive military . Now ,after the Ukraine war and the problems they face with China(and north Korea) they decide to increase the military budget ,just like everybody else “if my neighbor is buying a gun ,shouldn’t I also have one ?” Everybody says that we are at the start of the second cold war ,I tend to belive it .

On one hand, the upcoming arms race is concerning. On the other hand, Japan IS a part of “Russia is occupying our land” club.

I don’t think it’s about Russia at all for Japan. It’s about China and their recent escalations in Taiwan, south china sea and east china sea.

The only thing that really has to do with Russia is that they showed the world that near peer wars are still a thing and that China is a potential threat for all East Asia.

China is not a potential threat for East Asia, China is a potential threat to the US and the US wants to control East Asia and Japan works a checkpoint to keep that region in place.

That’s a weird way of seeing it. Aside from the fact that a potential invasion of Taiwan from China is a threat to the whole world (you know, chip production and all), China is very much acting like a threat to the whole South and East Asia region. Let’s see:

          • Japan: China keeps entering Japan’s air space and keeps claiming that the international waters in the East China Sea are theirs, disrupting commerce with Taiwan and other Asian nations.
          • South Korea: China supports North Korea, which means that South Korea is against them full stop, and sees them as an existential threat.
          • Taiwan: no comment
          • Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia: China has been claiming the South China Sea as theirs for last few years, building military bases in these nations’ sovereign waters on artificial islands and threatening their commercial activities in the region.

It’d be better if everyone just stays home and stops trying to invade other countries, and that also includes the US and Russia. Just stop, everyone go home, respect each other’s waters and territories and trade. This fucking need to build an empire is fucking stupid.

I think actually if USA is serious about a war with China they will only command Taiwan to jump under the bus and declare independence, the actual country that will fight against China like Ukraine against Russia will be Japan (and SK’s Army). Taiwan can be cut off from USAs wunderwaffles supplies by NPLA and its economy is not as strong like that of Japan if they want them to fight until the last Japanese ;) . Also the mental preparation is already there (where in Taiwan they would rather wonder after a while why they should fight other Chinese).

Saying Japan or SK would fight is a weird way of putting it, since they would be following orders from the US, but I guess I agree with what you say. This scenario is an unwinable one since they also have not been cultivating a strong movement as was the case in Ukraine, where the CIA has bern training units since the Maidan Coup, and also Taiwan being so isolated and so much smaller. Plus China would have Vietnam and NK as allies which would difficult a lot the Japanese and South Korean armies.
