The design of this logo was done by Artemy Lebedev, a super influential in the CIS region designer. Here’s a long ass post in russian about the creation of this exact logo in 1999!

Since then he kinda reduced himself to a sell-out pedaling authoritarianism and war propaganda to russian millenials. Think about that what you will, but there are more works of this fascist little freak’s studio if you’re interested.

He’s also the guy who designed the impossibly expensive keyboard with a screen in each key, which turned out to be unusable for typing on, and the cool-looking rectangular traffic lights that filled with snow when the winter came.

Well, I kind of hate most of the rest of the logos. They’re either entirely too busy or just generally not memorable. Nothing like the clean, clear, creative logo in the original post.

I’m not seeing it, too blurry to tell exactly.

The first letter doesn’t exactly look the same as the last, the first one has a more diagonal stroke than vertical, and these look like typed characters so they shouldn’t differ

What you say is 2 does not look like a 2 IMO. The 7 is maybe debatable too, dashed 7 is not that common. But that one might be fine

2nd character kinda looks more like su ス to me. It dips a bit, its not a straight horizontal

Wait, they have cranes in Japan? Do they migrate? To like Malaysia way in the winter? Huh. There are lots of crane species in North America, usually you don’t get the same bird species as such in old and new world that I am aware. Crows and ravens might be an exception amongst others. I think both have swallows too.

Cranes are found in most of the world.

They’re a pretty varied category of bird though. Four genera and 15 different species.

The Japanese crane is like the bird of Japan though. Famous in Japanese art for hundreds of years.

The red crowned cranes are mostly gone from Japan though, with only one population left in Hokkaido.

There are a shit ton of herons and egrets though. In season you see those in the rice fields pretty much every day.
