So my LinkedIn mobile app probably has an issue with my VPN so they want to see some papers please before I can use their app. Fine, it’s your service and I need to use it to influence my peers. So anyway they want ID, I give them my current student ID which has a nice picture, a sticker with the present semester and year, matching name to account, a barcode UUID, and legit looking layout. That is rejected as invalid form of identification! I can’t access my LinkedIn.
Just fake a drivers license.
That’s the crazy part… how would they know it’s real regardless of the type of ID I post!?
They aren’t checking for real. They’re checking for format. They expect you to load up a drivers license from one of the 50 states (or whatever for international) such that their OCR should be able to find your name (and maybe age and address) and their object recognition should be able to find your photo and the state logo. That’s all.
That’s crazy.
Crazy is using linkedin lol
I mean… that’s fair enough.
Yup.
The reasoning is that it is not illegal to fake most student ID cards but it is a federal offense to fake or alter government issued ID documents.
That way if it becomes an issue they can just pass it on to the authorities as their problem.
