FESS Fesshole HOLE @fesshole
We had a cappuccino machine, I thought my wife kept cleaning the crispy dried milk off the steamer spout, she thought I was doing it. A year later, after coffee every morning, we found out the cat was licking it off when we were at work.
JUST WIPE IT OFF WITH A DAMP CLOTH YOU FUCKING HEATHENS ITS NOT THAT HARD
Edit for context: I am a barista. All you have to do is have a damp cloth on hand when you finish steaming the milk to wipe down the wand. Takes maybe 30sec total, including finding and dampening the cloth before you start.
Why? The kitty got this
Got to contribute to the rent somehow
Capitalism for cats, meow?
TEXT HARDER SO THEY CAN READ YOU
IM TEXTING AS HARD AS I CAN
NOT HARD ENOUGH!
I wish the heatens could read
You remind me of my ex wife.
He reminds me of her too.
Naaah. The wife will do it.
If you’re not wiping it off immediately after usage, you don’t deserve to have an espresso machine.
“had” a cappuccino machine.
The consequences caught up with them. The universe righted itself.
It’s now the cat’s espresso machine.
In the cat reading newspaper meme, does the cat have a cup of coffee?
Looks more like tea to me, but it works just the same
This thing is probably nasty af if they are treating it like that.
Years ago at work we had a office type coffee machine with the filter carrier you pull out and dump.
The water flow to the filter got slower and slower until it was taking forever to make a pot. I finally broke down and took it apart to clean the calcium deposits out of it.
Turned out there was a dead cockroach blocking the hole from the reservoir to the filter.
Cockroaches are notorious coffee problems. A study found that many people who drank instant and pre ground coffee were allergic to coffee actually were allergic to the cockroaches ground up in it.
Yup. I’ve seen this. Sticking to my guns on this one, mainly because I always assumed it was various bugs. It’s just a given that bugs are in our food and people’s allergies to bug poop is very common.
As a government biologist, i was kind of surprised that snoops was mainly concerned about finding evidence that specifically cockroaches exist in the for No we wouldn’t identify that. No one would cus we wouldn’t really look into what exact bug or foreign matter exists, we just care that it stays at low levels. A large part of violations we identify have to come from self reporting too.
It’s not like it’s a big deal anyway. There are bugs in our food, it happens. That’s just life lol.
If people think bugs are the worst thing they’re going to find in food, they should probably just close the internet, never look anything up and live in bliss.
Yeah… tons of dead mammal animals too.
Their focus didn’t surprise me, the title was literally about roaches in coffee. It anything it surprised me how in depth they went about other insects being in coffee and not just roaches.
hm… hmm indeed.
This needs to be screencapped and submitted to this community as its own post.
Why did you do this to me
I like my women like I like my coffee.
With a cockroach in them.
So where is the problem here?
Toxoplasmosis
Weird name for a cat but ok.
We just call her Toxo for short.
Like they don’t already have it
Dont think that transfers via saliva, and the cat likely isnt using it as a buttplug
They clean themselves with their tongue and they often get litter on themselves. The chances are t 100% but they are much too high for my taste
That’s a steamy meatball.
Just a little extra seasoning
No problem. Self cleaning. Best.
I don’t see one! This is probably the highlight of the cats day :) it’s own little bit of drink in the morning. Cute.
People thinking cat saliva is gross I guess. Which is weird since they have a cat and the cats lick everything around. Especially weird since those milk foamers are a zillion degrees and disinfect everything before pouring
There is a difference between a cat licking the refrigerator and a cat licking something where a drink comes out. Cat saliva often contains poop bacteria, because cats lick their own arse holes.
Your butt contains poop bacteria
Your butt contains poop bacteria
Damn I didn’t expect this to backfire on me so brutally 😔
Username checks out!
So? Ingesting poop bacteria from animals is still harmful.
my attempt at humourous irreverence has failed
Balderdash. This guy just didn’t get it. The rest of us appreciated it.
There is NO humor where 💩 is concerned!
Tell that to zee Germans!
Haha!
That’s when you wipe some of your poop on the nozzle to get back at the cat. Right?..
I would assume most pet owners eventually just gives up. Its work enough keeping cats and dogs away from ones face.
Yeah, a cat owner usually doesn’t care. They shit in litterboxes - they already spread the “poop germs” around. Cat shit is rancid, if you can smell it, you are already inhaling it. And I guarantee you - once a cat starts doing its business, you can smell it.
Indeed. Now let’s talk about human poop particles…
Dear future people who may be reading this to study our ancient backwards civilization.
Yes. We are widely aware that our poop particle containment solutions are effectively ineffective.
We are also generally aware of the risks.
Yes. It freaks us the hell out.
And yes, we just try out best not to think about it.
Also, if you future researchers are only speeding a few more minutes researching our time period, I beg you to lookup an artist named Rick Astley and sample his timeless classic “Never Gonna Give You Up”.
… And their danger to cats? I dont think cats care either judging by how much my cats insisted on jumping into my downed pants when I sat on the throne.
Mine is literally checking if I flushed. They’re freaks, they don’t care
I have the cat litter in my home office and I am intensely aware of this. On the plus side it also means I remember to clean the cat litter regularly
On the health side, it CAN still lead to harmful bacterial growth. Whether that bacteria will end up in the drink probably depends on the machine itself and where the growth happened, but it’s still not great to have around.
Bigger issue might be that the cat isn’t getting all of it, and it could be building up somewhere
It doesn’t disinfect the exterior of the nozzle and that part ends up in the milk that’s being foamed.
A damp cloth won’t do that either
But it prevents build up, which feeds and encourages bacterial growth. With bacteria is never about total absence, but numbers. The body can deal with a few hundred bacterium. But if instead they’re several hundred million. That’s when you start having risk of disease.
But it prevents build up
So does the cat.
The logical inverse, if wiping it off does nothing like you say, would to be then rub a cat turd on the nozzle and it should be fine, since it’s not like wiping it off helps.
Cat was probably thinking: “Damn those humans, I have to do all the cleaning myself”
Cat was probably thinking “LÏck”
I think if you have a cat, there’s just a point where you accept that you’ll be ingesting the odd hair or dribble or microscopic bits of poop.
And Toxoplasmosis.
Yes, of course be cautious, especially if pregnant. But an indoor cat, even if infected when adopted, won’t be contagious after 2 weeks and won’t have a way to get reinfected. Outdoor, strays, and unknown cats are obviously not inherently safe.
Most of us probably already have it from pork.
That’s trichinosis, and it’s exceedingly rare in farm raised pigs.
Edit: Trichinosis is rare in pork, but I was wrong about Toxoplasmosis. Cook your bacon all the way.
I stand corrected. Thanks.
I went down a rabbit hole once. It’s one of those odd facts that seared I to my brain for no reason.
After both reading and watching Trainspotting, I can’t help but read that in scottish

The book is written in phonetic Scottish, so it’s not easy to read, but it absolutely nails the atmosphere, the rawness of the setting.
The book is heavier. It has a very dark storyline that is omitted from the movie, and therefore feels more visceral. The movie is a bit more camp and jovial, but it is absolutely right, I can’t fault it, is perfect.
It’s a rare case where both the book as the movie are brilliant, but each a whole different experience. I loved the sequel to the book more than the second movie, though, as it is in the same tone, the second movie is good, but not as edgy.
So I would recommend reading it if you have the chance.

Every unaccompanied cup shall be drank from.
“Mmm, have you noticed our espressos now have an interesting nutty accent flavor?”
Yeah, that would be the addition of ‘cat anus by proxy’.
Wouldn’t be the first ass I’ve eaten, and it certainly won’t be the last

TIL there are people who don’t wipe the wand immediately while the milk is wet and wait for it to crust over.
They haven’t had to take apart one to clean. I worked as a barista and this was one of my biggest pet peeves along with steaming sugar. Just wipe clean and you can even soak it in the pitcher after rinsing it.
Maybe it was my obsessive wand purging or just luck, but I never had one clog. The heads had to be descaled manually once but that was because the owner forgot to clean the water filter. From then on I had it on the to do-list myself.
We did some weird experiments, also the cafe didn’t have the best record of taking good care of their equipment. Eventually they got their shit together and has an awesome crew now.
For those in the Fediverse interested, Fesshole has an official Mastodon presence now.
I thought cats dont like work
Food driven cats will do some work for the right bribes, at least when they feel like it. For the extra delicious treats, ours will do sit, lay down, stand/jump, shake & high five. Will have to see if I can get her to clean the milk steaming spout as well!
I’m not seeing the problem… Little guy gets a nice little snack, you get a consistently clean machine… If you’re so concerned just wipe it with a sanitizer wipe before you use it.
