Listening to Dr Janega’s podcast how a guy from China who was actually a Nestorian Christian, traveled to Europe and got to meet the Pope, Eastern Roman Emperor, Holy Roman Emperor, King of France before heading home.

Or how Ibn Battuta travelled from Morroco all the way to China via the Maldives. Or famously Mansa Musa travelled from Mali to Mecca causing a financial crisis from giving away too much gold.

Vikings travelled all the way to Constantinople to fight in the Varangian guard. Like people travelled. Non white people would be uncommon but they’d be there especially in bigger cities.

I love how racists think that before the 19th century people stayed in ONE place on earth at all times and NEVER moved. The only time humans moved was when the continents were connected by land bridges and then after that they got racist in the 1400s and told Africans no admittance.

I think my favorite part of the outrage is I don’t even know what they are mad about. I haven’t met a character yet that wasn’t super pasty and christian.

And then all of the characters in power are sort of scumbags. The other day I ran into a noble or something and he was just yelling at his I assume to be wife.

I’d say it’s fairly accurate to feudal life

The games really do pay a lot of attention to accuracy - although it’s worth noting that some aspects of their portrayal are disputed by some historians. For example the Christianity thing - not that Christianity wasn’t a big part of medieval European life, but most peasants in most of Europe only went to church like once or twice a year for the big holidays, so the portrayal in KCD may not be as accurate as it seems at first glance.

Anyway black people and gay people definitely existed in medieval times so in that respect KCD2 is more accurate than the first one.

“Noooo…why isn’t this demographic of social outcasts reliably having the same interests as me and my country club buddies??? Noooooo!”

Retvrn to “not your personal army”.
