Nokia lost all credibility when they ditched meego for windows mobile. Then they inevitably began making wafer touchscreen phones just like everyone else complete with android because windows is garbage especially in the embedded space.

This is a really cool project and I hope them or someone else would go on to make a modern spec drop in board for the n900.

I guess they have a strict trademark contract with that company that started producing smartphones under the “Nokia” brand again and didn’t want to get into trouble with them.

    Streisand effect though ;)

Nice, when it is marketed i will take a look. Maybe my next cell phone will be a Notkia. Going back to the roots.

It’s possible, the phone is still in beta and currently not in the market. I think that the final versión will have it, it’s in the dev list. The only problem I see are the apps it has, some official apps (administrations, health, banks, etc) only exist for Android and iOS, that can make it inusuable for some people.

Fuck Microsoft indeed, but no they do not own Nokia and (contrary to popular belief) they never actually did.

Nokia was infiltrated by a career Microsoft exec named Stephen Elop (one of the single largest shareholders of Microsoft) who became CEO and did his best to run the company into the ground. He had them making Windows phones and eventually sold their mobile division to Microsoft along with temporary rights to sell phones under the Nokia brand name, but that only lasted until 2016.

Today Nokia-branded phones are manufactured by Foxconn on behalf of HMD Global (a Finnish company partly owned by Nokia).

How is that legally possible, Notkia is non only written slightly differently, but is also pronounced differently :(

If the Nokia of today was the real one, the one of 10-15 years ago, they wouldn’t have done this
