Another day, another coworker quote. I’ve never heard this one before. I’ve heard people say “if you come to our country you need to assimilate to our culture and values”, but never that China specifically sends migrants to destabilize the EU. Literal lol, lmao even.

Is this even remotely true? The same was said about Ukrainians, Russian and other migrants.

As a sub question, I’ve been wanting to read something regarding migrants to combat such narratives, I found Reece Jones’s Violent Boarders, is this a good start?

Europeans think far too much of themselves and their place in the world. China couldn’t give less of a shit about Europe’s migration issues. China doesn’t spend nearly as much time thinking about Europe as Europe does about China. In the coming decades Europeans will need to come to terms with their global irrelevance.

Spot on. This is something that most Europeans (young and old) still need to realize.

How do mean it? It’s not like the average European Joe works day for day and things about global relevance.

No, but the elites all think like this. And while the average European may not consciously and actively think about this, many still implicitly assume this to be the case because that is how Europeans are raised and educated and conditioned by the media, to view the West as the center of the world around which everything revolves.

European chauvinism is internalized by the vast majority. And when this idea of superiority is threatened, many Europeans instinctively react very emotionally, and even aggressively, to suggestions that Europe is not the pinnacle of civilization and that the global south is more advanced, more economically relevant and more culturally sophisticated than they think.

Talk to any European and chances are that very very few will not say that Europe is more “free and democratic” than any country in Africa or most of Asia (with the exception of perhaps Japan and Europe’s beloved apartheid settler colony). Most Europeans think that most places outside of Europe are more barbaric and less advanced (again with only a few exceptions which are perceived as sufficiently westernized) than Western Europe.

They frequently look down, either due to racism or liberal paternalism, on non-Europeans and their cultures and so they cannot conceive of a world in which Europe will not be more advanced than the global south and cannot impose its will and its “values” on the global south.

Exactly this. imo most Euros have an internalized brainworm called western chauvinism. Most are also patriarchal, misogynistic, sexist, racist and xenophobic; wildly overestimating their countries’ relevance and the purity and infallibility of their own way of thinking – because this is what we’ve all been taught for all of our lives, directly by the nonfunctional education system and indirectly by cultural osmosis. Or at least this is how I feel, having lived in a European state, surrounded by European buogies all my life.

This is classic Nazi propaganda, seeing as Hitler accused the Soviet Union of flooding Germany with Eastern Jews and Muslims. That’s literally what Nosferatu is about.

It’s time for Europeans to finally accept the fact that Europe is a declining continent that is only being kept economically survivable by migrant labor.

Assimilate and values lol. Don’t forget “Speak our language”! I fucking whish it were true. How can it be, that for 10 generations people still speak fucked up German, but not proper standardised German. I can’t understand those fuckers mumbling in their weird dialect, they don’t show proper respect and try to speak in an way you cant understand. If you ask again, they get angry “Dasisch Deitsch wasisch spreich”. They get louder! Do they think that by getting louder, I can understand it!? In the contrary I visit a Asian shop in the city. Dude doesn’t speak German at all, but tries to give me tips how to use glutamate and with little effort I understood everything. Nice and friendly man. But don’t you dare to visit a some village in Hesse. Same fuckers are then crying, because you can’t understand the talk of two afghany (don’t know the adjective) persons. Saxon dialects sound funny, but Hesse makes me every time so fucking angry. Assimilate yourself, before you dare to talk about assimilation you freaking Hessians. Speaking ununderstandble and drinking apple wine gor hundred of years is not culture.

Idk, this off-top rant just happened. However. The story about China using immigration for something is not believable. The actual reactionary point is, that immigration is seen as a problem itself. Using immigration as a political tool to create pressure reminds me Belarus and Türkiye. One of them used buses and so on. Not to help people, but to pressure the EU. But idk how China is also using immigration as a political tool to pressure the EU or USA.

The comment was made in passing, but not exactly. As in that Chinese migrants are coming to Europe to “destroy” it’s culture, to not assimilate etc.

(this is not directed at u but at people who say that statement you quoted)

this just fucking pisses me off when foreigners say it. contrary to what people might say on the internet, we dont accept those views in the mainstream. 50+ million europeans died in WW2, we descend from those communists who fought against them, innocent people who were displaced, people who opposed those parties etc. there was that ukrainian girl killed by a black guy, nobody even mentions that case IRL or harasses black people about it. dont get me wrong, we have tons of issues around racism but i hate it when outsiders chime in.
