Both, that’s what also makes it interesting as it should be easier to move discussions in either direction and thus reduce the problem that so many interesting discussions end up undocumented in closed chat platforms for future searches.

I looked briefly at their website and I really couldn’t find their advantage over reddit or lemmy for example. Also, their demo somewhat reminded me of quara lol

You mean Discourse the forum or the chat? The forum is just a nice forum, not better or worse than others. But forums are being abandoned for chat systems like Discord as a rapid pace, so combining the advantages of a forum and a chat system which is what Discourse is trying with this, might turn out to be the only way to save forums.

What I try to do is create a Matrix chat and the link it to a Lemmy community. You get the best of both worlds

Looking at the Features page on their website, I see interesting features that are absent from Lemmy:
        - Emoji
        - Reply by email
        - Post revision history
        - Collaboratively edit wiki posts

Then looking at a random Socialhub comment, I find the quoting system to be really interesting. A major feature that the fediverse is lacking in my opinion.

I’ve not seen emoji reactions but I’m using Lemmy which has reddit style up and downvotes along with comments so I don’t see the need on this platform.

I wouldnt mind an emoji reaction addition to the AP protocol though.
