        I actually think people will get fed up and rise against him. After the fervor of sectarianism or fake revolution or the multiple causes of this wears off. High ranking HTS officials have already been eliminated and that’s only bound to expand. Assad won’t be back, but Syria needs someone stronger and dedicated to the AoR anyways.

        On the contrary, things aren’t lost yet.

        Several Syrian websites report that the brother of former President Bashar Assad has landed on the western shores of Syria after intensive flights by Russian aircraft. There are also reports that HTS (formerly Al Nusra, affiliated with Al Qaeda and ISIS) forces have completely withdrawn from Tartus and Latakia. Images of the main security building in Latakia, which is deserted, seem to partially confirm these reports. (Example)

        Even though this information has to be taken with caution, it shows that things are unstable there yet and things can change rapidly. There even reports of several killings of people linked to HTS.
