Of course all political parties are disgusting in liberal democracies but there are some that just are insane.

In Mexico it has to be PAN, they’re your usual latin american conservative party. Elitists, very catholic, racists, malinchistas ( they hate mexico and its culture ). Right now they’re going insane because a former secretary of national security was declared guilty off collaborating with drug cartels in a US jury ( they idolize the US so this is funny af )

If you had asked me this a year ago i would have said it’s a tie between the Greens and the SPD. The other major parties are scum too don’t get me wrong, but at least they’re honest scum, the AfD pretty much openly flaunt their Nazi sympathies, bigotry and xenophobia, while the FDP and CDU everyone knows are there to do the bidding of the corporate elite and nothing else. It’s when parties pretend to be leftist or call themselves progressives or socdems but end up being among the biggest traitors to the working class that i get angry.

At the moment though the Greens take the prize, they have really gone off the deep end, a bunch of unhinged warmongering lunatics and most of the top leadership are straight up CIA assets. It is incredible how deep in the pocket of Washington these fuckers are.

Yes they definitely had that reputation in the past. I don’t know how much was fact and how much it was the other parties exaggerating to discredit them, but some of what was said about them was absolutely true.

Idk to what extent they still hold those views, but it wouldn’t surprise me to find out that that’s how the US is blackmailing some of the members into doing their bidding. As i said the Greens are truly a disgusting bunch.

I live in Germany. Some people have good arguments why the most disgusting political party would be the AfD, CDU/CSU, FDP, or the SPD. I think it is the Green Party. Originally founded as an anti-nuclear movement as part of the Hippie scene, it eventually gained traction and became part of the federal and some state governments. While they campaigned for the last election on a platform of pacifism, economic justice, replacing coal power, affordable housing and public transit, and climate change mitigation, they went back on each and every one of their promises. Granted, they are but one of three parties in the ruling “traffic light” coalition, but they are the second biggest one of them and effectively have veto power everywhere.

Not only are they spineless transatlantic lobbyists and turncoats against the will of their voters, but they are stupid as well, which is much more dangerous. The two Greens at the top are only a case study of all the ones voted into positions of power: Robert Habeck, our foreign minister, is one of the architects of Europe’s trade war against Russia - first they boot out nuclear power, then they kill the gas supply. The “solution” is American LNG obtained through fracking, and it is going to cost everyone 20-30% more. Annalena Baerbock - who is supposed to represent us on the national stage and might become the next chancellor - has many problems including resumé padding, failing to disclose supplementary incomes, the foreign ministry spending six figures a year on her makeup, as well as mistakenly declaring war on Russia in January. But thankfully, she also has a humorous side: On the recent Munich security conference, she invited Putin to do a pirouette (“turn 360 degrees”)

I also agree that the German Greens are currently the worst party in German politics. Especially with Baerbock you really get the feeling that US neocon thinktanks are talking through her mouth. There’s also a certain amount of condescension or arrogance I sense from them, like “we are the original environmentalists and anti-nuke activists, you’d better take us seriously on these issues.”

They are the biggest hypocrites when it comes to the environment, they made us abandon nuclear energy in favor of coal and now they ditched Russian pipeline gas in favor of US LNG which is not only more expensive, it also has a way bigger carbon footprint because it needs to be shipped via tankers all the way across an ocean. They literally do the exact opposite of what they claim they stand for. And of course not a single mention of the fact that militaries, especially the US one are among the biggest polluters on the planet, yet they are in a frenzy calling for re-armament.

In Brazil it would have to be Partido Liberal (PL) or Partido Comunista do Brasil (PCdoB) depending on what’s more disgusting to you: a party which represents bourgeois interests so well it’s full of fascists or a party which disguises itself as a communist but it’s run by capital and electoralism and has a disgrace of a youth wing. PCdoB’s youth wing is known for using Tática 2 (attracting members through pragmatic romantic seduction) and for frauding student elections in universities.

          • Lewica literally is SLD, just with changed name after merging with left-liberals Wiosna.

There is also Lewica Razem, former Razem, which leader Adrian Zandberg is the lefternmost person in polish mainstream politics (often called “communist” by libs and conservatives) - in reality he’s just a mild AOC kind of socialfascist and yesterday i heard him spouting profascist slogans about Ukraine in radio. So fuck all them, just a moderate wing of fascism.

In The Netherlands it’s Forum voor Democratie, a far right fascist party that is antivax, claims everyone at the top are Jewish reptiles, doesn’t think the Holocaust happened etc.

In Belgium it’s Vlaams Belang, a Flemish right wing nationalist party. They hate immigrants and non-whites with a burning passion. One of their most influential figures is a Nazi collaborator. One of their current members is doing a tour to present his book on the Great Replacement. One of their other popular members who recently quit now has to go to court because investigators hacked his private conversations in which he made ‘gassing the Jews’ statements.

In USA, the Republicans are typically a decent amount worse than Democrats in many respects, but occasionally their paleo-con ideology forces them to have better foreign policy takes than Democrats. But still Republicans are only just getting over rampant and open homophobia, they try in congress to at least seem like they are frugal but care about human rights as a way to shame other places because they are still extremely racist. Tbh tho the Libertarian Party may be worse just bc their debates are actually just funny to watch. They rarely get any positions of power and the debates usually center around things that already exist or should absolutely exist. Like for example, they still mald out loud at nobody in particular when someone says seatbelts or legal drinking/driving age or even laws about driving intoxicated. The spicier ones probably express their disdain for the age of consent but I actually don’t know that for a fact, they may have to hide those opinions. Gary Johnson came out looking the most sane during those debates

  • BJP in India. Their ideological overlord organisations RSS and VHP are strictly Hindutva fascist organisations, with sort of semi official goon groups like Bajrang Dal, a group of violent murderous young Hindus that go around beating or killing love couples, or murdering people who eat beef. Media press is by far fully controlled here, and all TV news outlets are bought out now. In BJP states (mostly northern ones), it is easy to spot pure Islamophobia, and a more subtle systematic hate of any minorities.

Recently 2 Muslims were charred to death in a car by Bajrang Dal, and there is zero coverage on TV news about this. Its pretty bad.

      • On the other hand I am glad to see this thread. It enlightens me about other countries that have their issues, and I think its great to have these kinds of threads from time to time. Its allowing to break the language barriers that we face that would otherwise allow us to filter local media of any place.

I live in Canada. In terms of the parties that are actually in Parliament, they’re all disgusting. The Green Party seems to be the least horrible among the major ones, but, 1, they’re still very much liberal just with somewhat more concern about the environment, and 2, has so few seats that they literally do not matter in the slightest.

Occasionally you’ll get an independent running that identifies as something actually leftist, sometimes even ML, not the Canadian standard perception of what’s left wing (most Canadians think the NDP and Green Party are as left as Lenin), but they tend to be super obscure so you kind of have to take their word for it (it’s sad that a candidate even knowing the word Marxist is news in Canada), but not like it matters because each voting district is first past the post so you’re literally wasting your ballot if you vote for them.

Provincial, district/county, and municipal governments are no better. Actually, they’re basically just smaller versions of the Federal government. Like a nesting doll of mostly libtrash and occasional fascism.

Many independent First Nations tribal councils and governments are also very based, but again, in an imperialist colonial country they can affect very little, and don’t even have full control in their own reserve lands, which, you know, they’re in theory supposed to, and it honestly seems super tone deaf to even call them part of “Canada”. It’d be like like if you called all the post-holocaust Soviet governments German, or called the Chinese CPC a Japanese political party.

The Communist Party of Canada is a thing and also seems fairly based, but once again, not like it matters. Same with the Red Nation presence here, which is Indigenous socialism. Probably a few more Marxist parties here and there. Very good that they exist and they still do a lot of good work don’t get me wrong, but I just don’t see them having the ability to pull off a socialist revolution in the current societal climate. Here’s hoping for the future and there’s definitely a lot of work to be done before a revolution is possible.

Unfortunately, the Communist Party in Canada is an absolute joke here. Led by close-minded boomers, they’ve had multiple sex abuse scandals/cover-ups and have completely undone any gains they’ve had in the last 10 years and have lost a ton of members. They basically only exist online.

To add to what you said, we have the “People’s Party of Canada” which sounds like it could be a socialist party, but in reality it’s a neo-fascist party that split off of the Conservative Party (also led by a neo-fascist) for not being fascist enough for their tastes. Thankfully they have no seats but they get more votes than all socialist parties combined. In addition to that, they are various provincial parties in the same vein. As you can guess, these parties are antivax, racist nationalist, anti-intellectual, and pro-corporate greed. Their flunkies are mostly responsible for that ‘convoy’ bs you may have heard of in the news. Even though they are mostly on the fringe, they quite accurately reflect the neo-fascist nature of settler colonialism and their views would’ve been mainstream 100 years ago.

Yeah, which is why I often say “neo-fascist” because you’ll inevitably have someone be like 'well aaactually that’s not real fascism…". It’s a contradiction. They don’t outright say that they are fascists, but they are the preferred party of neo-nazis and the like and have similar views. It’s a smokescreen to appeal to workers, just like the blackshirts or nsdap.

I’ve heard claims that they’re the largest ML party, which is definitely true insofar as the CPB isn’t really ML or even Marxist—whether they’re larger than the CPB I don’t quite know.

Their stance on socialist states as well as their publications about key socialist figures often hit the nail on the head. But holy fuck their incessant obsession with wanting to deny trans people’s existence is unconscionable.

I had heard that there were trans people in the organisation who were seeking to change things, which prompted me to apply to join back in 2019 or so. Well, in the extremely long time during which they never got back to me, I noticed they had doubled down and published several transphobic articles. Since then I’ve had nothing but spite for them.

That would be FdI, you have probably heard of it, they won the election in September and they’re ruling with a coalition of other rightists, their party is directly linked to the national fascist party that ruled Italy from 1922 to 1945, hierarchs from the regime founded the MSI (not the graphics card guys), the MSI (it stands for movimento sociale italiano, italian social movement, a direct reference to the “Italian social Republic”) then became the AN (national alliance) and then became FdI, so we are ruled by a party that is directly linked to the dictatorship that invented the word fascism, and people are pretending its fine because “at least we have a woman president” overall, they deserve the same treatment that their grandfathers received from the yugoslav partisans.
